Fond Balaine

Ré island

From April onwards, the island of Ré is open to you for the discovery of its fauna and flora through magnificent bike rides on the cycle paths. This small village will seduce you by its simplicity, its tranquillity but also by its sandy beach spreading over more than 5 km and its bike paths leading you to discover the island of Ré.

Formerly a lobster fishing village, St Clément is bordered to the west by the wild coast, to the east by the salt marshes and to the north by the immense Conche des Baleines beach. You’ll also enjoy cycling through vineyards, new potato fields, salt marshes and the many miles of cycle paths through vineyards, salt marshes and culinary escapades.

The centre of the village of Saint Clément is located 800 m from the campsite. You will discover its square of the church with its market of local produce every day in July and August and Monday and Saturday in low season. Its press and bike hire are also open every day during the summer period from April to the end of September.

The narrowest pass of the island, in the heart of the salt marshes, Ars en Ré was classified in the very selective list of the “most beautiful villages of France”, with its XII and XIIIth century church surmounted by its black and white bell tower. You will enjoy strolling in the flowery lanes, wandering around the harbour, observing the movement of boats, listening to the stories of the past…
